Did you know that anyone suspected of being involved in a crime has their DNA recorded, but when they become eliminated from the investigation, (eg they can prove they were somewhere else) the DNA record is retained on a computer database which is growing very fast. The DNA of these people is then checked against old cases and has resulted in some old murders and rapes being solved - great. But if you are close to an incident when out in Wimborne or Verwood you could be on record for life. The DNA records include under 18s and there is currently no way to demand that your record is removed.

Apple iPod v MP3 player
Can we use the blog to measure opinion on this issue? Please add a comment to give your reasons for buying the iPod or a more generic MP3 player, and also please comment on your satisfaction or otherwise with the player. Generally it seems iPods are sold on "expensive but the best and easiest to use", but there have been some complaints about them and some MP3 players are even more than iPods.
My point of view: I have a Matsui MP3 player which was about £26. A student asked what I got with it compared to an iPod - answer "a lot of change" . Of course MP3 players can be more expensive with more storage and better quality. The interface is not clever - you flick through all the tracks to find what you want.
I have tried an iPod and the circle selector interface is very clever, but I don't play much music on the move so I don't think it's worthwhile paying lots extra if I don't use it very often.
I am planning to get a gadet to link to my record player so that I can convert all my vinyl favourites and play them in the car.
